Let's take a closer look at some of the upcoming Mega Evolutions...

Mega Zeraora

Mega Zeraora is the fourth new Mega Evolution (if we're counting Mega Raichu X and Y as two separate Pokémon, which we should) to be released as part of the Mega Dimension DLC on Wednesday 10th December. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase this DLC if you want Mega Zeraora!

Zeraora is a Mythical Pokémon from Gen 7 and is an Electric-type, with its Mega Evolution keeping that typing. What Mega Zeraora does loose, however, is Zeraora's yellow fur which has been relegated to the tips of its tails and hair. Mega Zeraora, instead, has a sleek black design with blue accents. This blue is most likely a reference to the blue electricity Zeraora is often depicted using!

At the time of writing, the exact name of Zeraora's Mega Stone is yet to be revealed but it will most likely follow tradition by being a combination of Zeraora's name and 'ite'. We also don't know how you'll obtain Zeraora or its Mega Stone. Considering Zeraora's mythical status, however, it will most likely be tied to the DLC's storyline.

Mega Baxcalibur

Mega Baxcalibur will be available once its Mega Stone, Baxcalibrite, is released part of Season 4 of the Ranked Battles. Yes, this does mean there's yet another Mega Stone you'll have to work towards in the online battle scene but Nintendo has said that all of these Mega Stones will be made available in-game at later date.

When it comes to Mega Baxcalibur itself, I must say that I find its design a little underwhelming. It's just Baxcalibur but more. Sure, there now seems to be sword sticking through its body and the ice-like effect part of its scales have is neat but it doesn't feel as creative as past Mega Evolutions. (See the upcoming section about Mega Chimecho.)

Though it's yet to be confirmed, Mega Baxcalibur will most likely be a Dragon and Ice-type Pokémon.

Mega Chimecho

Mega Chimecho will be released as part of the story content for the Mega Dimension DLC on Wednesday 10th December. This does mean that you'll need to purchase (or have purchased) this DLC to add Mega Chimecho to your team and I'm certainly tempted!

Chimecho's design was inspired by fūrin - glass wind bells that can often be found at Shinto shrines. When it comes to Mega Chimecho, however, you'll see that it has mini Chimecho-like wind bells hanging from it. This all hangs from a ring which resembles a Chingling who is the pre-evolved (or baby) version of Chimecho. It's a really clever design that relates back to the Pokémon itself and its inspiration.

Though it's yet to be confirmed, Mega Chimecho will most likely be a Psychic-type Pokémon.

Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y

Raichu is doing a Charizard and will have two different Mega Evolutions - Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. (It's even stolen the naming convention for Mega Charizard and Mewtwo...) If you want these Mega Evolutions, then you'll need to purchase the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and find the two separate Mega Stones - Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. Yes, each Mega Raichu form requires a unique stone. Thankfully, the designs are quite different ensuring the work is worth it.

Mega Raichu X has two, almost elf-like ears with a flipped colour design compared to Raichu's original Gen One design. The most notable feature, however, are Mega Raichu X's two lightning bolt tails! It's described as 'using electromagnetism, concentrating electricity into its fists to land devastating blows.'

Meanwhile, Mega Raichu Y has the far cuter design in my opinion. It keeps the darker colouring of Raichu (X looks quite similar to Pikachu in many ways), but has a number of little fur tuffs. What truly stands out about Mega Raichu Y though are the lightning bolt-like spikes coming out from the base of its ears! I wouldn't want to get caught on the end of those... Mega Raichu Y is described as striking 'foes swiftly with the amplified electric power coursing through its body.'

Both Mega Raichu Y and X are Electric-type Pokémon.

Mega Mewtwo

Rumours have been circulating about Mega Mewtwo potentially being part of a Mystery Gift event in Z-A. X (formerly Twitter) user Sibuna_Switch posted about Side Missions being connected to these two Pokémon, but the missions won't unlock nor will their Mega Stones become available until the correct Mystery Gift event.

This is just speculation from leakers and dataminers for now - so keep in mind that this may not occur. Though it does certainly seem likely since Mega Diancie was released via a Mystery Gift event on Thursday 6th November.

Mega Heatran and Darkrai

According to several posts on the Pokeleaks subreddit, Mega Zeraora, Heatran and Darkrai have been picked up by dataminers. Now, it's important to note that these are just leaks and rumours at this time - there has been no official confirmation on their existence. Though the likelihood of Heatran and Darkrai's Mega Evolutions being on the cards has been increased by the confirmation that Mega Zeraora will be released as part of the Mega Dimensions DLC.

From leaks, it seems Mega Darkrai could have a base ATK of 120, Heatran's could be 120 too and Zeraora's could be 157. Out this trio, the leaks also suggest that Mega Zeraora would be the fastest, with a potential speed of 153.

Also, another post on the Pokeleaks Subreddit supports the idea that this trio will be coming to Z-A. This post from r/YodaForce157 suggests that code for the trio has been found in a leaked beta build:

Other leaked Mega Pokémon

At the time of writing, leaks suggest that Staraptor, Tatsugiri and Meowstic may also be getting Mega Evolutions in the near future. Rayquaza may also appear though this will be a returning Mega Evolution rather than a new one. This includes Heatran and Dakrai, which means this is multiple times these two specific Pokémon have appeared in leaks. A post on the Pokeleaks subreddit alludes to these Pokémon potentially getting Mega versions:
